• What
factors influence balcony railing Noise?
- Each Condominium building can be influenced by multiple factors
some of which include:
Positioning of the building in relation to the prevailing wind
direction shape and design of the building, Geographical features
that shape the wind flow striking the building, proximity to
adjacent structures which could reduce the wind flow, coastal
conditions or open spaces that allow for increased wind strength
etc.

• My railing vibrates and hums with the wind, is the railing unsafe?
- As far as we know there are no studies currently available as to
the long term effects of wind induced vibration on railings. However
your local Building Code sets a minimum strength requirement for
Balcony guard rails and it is assumed that your railings meet or
exceed this requirement, it is our opinion that extended exposure to
vibration may damage the installation.

• Must all the buildings railings be foam filled to cure the noise
problem?
-No, It is possible that there are specific balconies that may be
the major contributors to the noise nuisance.

• Will foam filling a single apartment balcony railing cure the
problem?
- Possibly! We have had an exceptional result where one treated balcony solved the noise issue on a eight story Condo. This should not be considered a typical. Each building is unique. Foaming of adjacent balconies may be required.

on a case by case basis.

• Should the Home owner be present during the time we are working on
the balcony railing?
- We are sensitive that we are temporally invading the home. We
require that the owner or the Condominium management provide a
representative to act as an escort in the apartment during the time
we are working on the balcony. In the unlikely event that damage or
any other incident occurs we require that the incident be reported
to our site Supervisor and our main office immediately. We do not
accept any claims for damage or loss that are not reported
immediately.

• How much will this cost?
- Our fee is based upon several variables, 1. The size of the job. 2. The Distance to the Job. 3. The job configuration i.e how much we can foam before moving the equipment. As small job requiring multiple equipment relocations is more expensive. Generally most balconies can be foam filled for less than the cost of a cup of Coffee and a nice Danish a day for a year.
